India’s legendary all-rounder Yusuf Pathan was a part of Team India’s Cricket World Cup 2011 victory. The former cricketer will contest the Lok Sabha election from Baharampur on the Trinamool Congress ticket. Many former cricketers opted for politics as their future career after retiring from international cricket. Interestingly, four Indian players from the 2011 World Cup triumph have been part of a political party.

Yusuf Pathan will contest the General Elections after the TMC party announced him as their candidate for the Baharampur seat. He was in India’s squad for the ODI World Cup 2011.
Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir is a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from East Delhi. He had joined BJP in 2019 after retiring from International cricket in 2018. Gambhir had smashed crucial 97 runs in the World Cup 2011 final.
Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh is also a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from the Aam Admi Party. Harbhajan had taken nine wickets in the World Cup campaign with an economy of 4.48.
Sreesanth
Sreesanth was a BJP candidate from the Thiruvananthapuram Assembly constituency in 2016. But, he did not win the election. Sreesanth was also a key player in India’s World Cup 2011 stint.
