Southpaw Usman Khawaja was the first pick for Chopra. In 12 games, the Australian opener has been consistent as he has amassed 1078 runs, averaging 53.9. The next on the list was none other than Indian skipper Rohit Sharma. The former cricketer justified the inclusion citing the Hitman scoring 540 runs in 7 games – in conditions where everyone struggled on bad or hard pitches.

Number three and four on the list are two members of the prestigious Fab Four – Joe Root (787 runs, 8 games) and Virat Kohli (557 runs, 7 games) respectively. England’s Harry Brook, who had a phenomenal 2023, was in at number 5 for Chopra.

Bangladesh’s Mushfiqur Rahim was a surprise inclusion in Chopra’s XI. Spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also found themselves in the line-up. Mitchell Starc, Tim Southee and Stuart Broad were the pacers with which the XI was complete.

Warming the bench were Kusal Medis, Travis Head, Taijul Islam and Josh Hazlewood.
