Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan on Sunday said England will have a tough job at hand when they come out to chase in the 4th innings of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test. India have been dominating the match, with the lead currently inching towards 400 runs. Shubman Gill’s fine century and Axar Patel’s 45 runs have put India firmly in charge, with the visitors struggling to regain control of the match.
India have dominated the 2nd Test right from the start. Rohit Sharma’s men put up a big score of 396 in the first innings, riding on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double century. Jasprit Bumrah produced a magnificent spell to take 6-fer and restrict England to 253. India showed more intent in the second innings, scoring runs at a fast rate. Shubman Gill stood out with a fine century as India extended their lead to almost 400 runs.
Zaheer Khan, speaking during the Tea Break, said India are in a comfortable position and backed the bowlers to come good in the England’s second innings.
“370 is a pretty steep score to chase. The Indian bowlers will come into play and the 4th innings is not going to be easy. From that point of view, India will find themselves in a comfortable position here. Another 50-70 runs is only going to strengthen their platform. They will be pretty happy with Shubman’s contribution. On the whole, the team is looking comfortably placed,” Zaheer said.
