With many big names expected to go into the auction, see three quality wicketkeepers who will be in demand in the IPL 2025 auction if released by their franchise.

Often regarded as a thankless job where taking catches can be undervalued, but dropping easy chances can put wicketkeepers under immense pressure. In the Indian Premier League, we have seen many wicketkeepers not only excel with their glove work but also prove to be high-quality batters. As the IPL 2025 auction coming soon, there are big names expected to go under the hammer, especially since only six players can be retained by each team, making the IPL 2025 mega auction interesting.

As mentioned, the wicketkeeper’s role is crucial, and we are certainly going to see many keepers becoming the talk of the town during the auction. But who are the glove workers that could command hefty amounts if they enter the IPL auction? KL Rahul

The first name, and possibly the biggest name, that could attract many buyers is KL Rahul. There are strong indications that his current franchise, Lucknow Super Giants, is not going to retain him. In that scenario, many teams could pursue this superstar, from RCB, which currently lacks a senior keeper since Dinesh Karthik is no longer in the mix, to Chennai Super Kings, who will need to train someone for the future once MS Dhoni no longer participates in the IPL. It is no secret that MS Dhoni is in the final years of his career, and retirement from the IPL is not far off. In that scenario, CSK could look to groom someone, and we can expect teams like RCB and CSK to show massive interest in KL Rahul if LSG does not retain this superstar.

Rishabh Pant

According to the latest reports, Pant may not be retained by DC, which comes as a surprise to many. However, nothing is confirmed yet, and we will see the exact final list soon, as the deadline for franchises to submit their retention lists is October 31st. If he goes under the hammer, there’s a good chance he could fetch more than 10 crores or even more. With his ability as a flexible wicketkeeper and a big hitter who knows when to attack bowlers, Rishabh Pant is undoubtedly one of the most intelligent players in the game. He could certainly be the talk of the town if he is not retained by the DC camp and enters the IPL mega auction.

Ishan Kishan

Last but not least, Mumbai Indians invested heavily in this wicketkeeper-batter, and they got results as well, though more often in pieces. While Kishan has the ability to score runs, he has frequently failed to convert starts into big scores. There is no question about his wicketkeeping ability; he is one of the best in the business. However, his batting remains a concern, which may lead him out of the first six players of the MI camp. If he gets released, we could see him going under the hammer, with a few teams in need of opening batters, such as LSG, likely to target this star player if they don’t retain Rahul.
