Wicketkeepers are under a lot of strain when easy opportunities are missed, and catching is frequently a neglected ability. Many of the Indian Premier League’s wicketkeepers are excellent batsman in addition to being excellent behind the stumps. As the IPL 2025 season approaches, the spotlight is on the wicketkeeper-batters who could make a massive impact with the bat. With explosive batting skills and sharp wicketkeeping, here are three wicketkeeper-batters who could be the highest run-scorers in the upcoming season of IPL.

3 Wicketkeepers who could be highest run getter in IPL 2025

KL Rahul

KL Rahul, a seasoned wicket-keeper batter, is known for his versatility, composed leadership, and consistent performances, will play in IPL 2025 for Delhi Capitals. His ability to anchor innings and adapt to various game scenarios makes him an invaluable player. Rahul’s IPL journey has been noteworthy, starting with Punjab Kings in 2018 after being acquired for Rs. 11 crore, followed by a high-profile move to Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 for Rs. 17 crore. Despite his impressive contributions, a controversial incident where the franchise owner publicly criticized him after a crushing defeat to SRH may have played a role in his decision to leave Lucknow.

Jos Buttler

It was shocking when Jos Buttler was released by the Rajasthan Royals prior to the IPL 2025 auction. Buttler thrived in 2022, amassing 863 runs with four fifties and a 149.5 strike rate. He is a proven match-winner. He had two hundreds in 2024, despite his form declining in 2023. Buttler demonstrated his exceptional consistency over three seasons by scoring 1614 runs at an average of 46.6 and a strike rate of 145.6.

Phil Salt

Phil Salt has drawn the interest of T20 fans all around the world. With a remarkable strike rate of 182.01, he scored 435 runs in 12 games for the Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2024 IPL season. Salt can bowl off-spin occasionally and is a dependable wicket-keeper, but his main skill is his batting. Salt, who was a vital part of England’s 2022 T20 World Cup winning squad, has also shown off his skills internationally, scoring two incredible hundreds against the South Africans.
