Delhi Capitals need to do something to earn the champion team reputation, as after many tries, the team has fallen short and failed to win the trophy. They have changed captains and players, but the result has never been in their favour. Recently, they have tried to restructure their team before entering IPL 2025. While they no longer have Rishabh Pant, they have added some big players such as KL Rahul, Faf du Plessis, and Mitchell Starc. They are trying to form a solid composition, but people still believe that there are some aspects of their squad that remain uncovered heading into IPL 2025. So, what are those weaknesses? Let’s take a look at the three important concerns for DC ahead of IPL 2025.
Lack of bowlers who can take over the bowling in the middle overs
The first and foremost thing fans observe is that DC has some good bowlers, but what comes to the forefront is who will take care of fast bowling in the middle overs. Possibly Mitchell Starc and Mukesh Kumar, or T. Natarajan, could ensure that the first 10 overs go well. But how about after that? Between the 11th and 15th overs, it could be a concern. If some spinners get targeted, fast bowlers will need to take control to settle things down. Despite having a good pace attack, the rotation of pacers could create an issue in IPL 2025.
Over-reliance on Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav
As mentioned, they do have good bowlers, and if we talk about spin bowling in particular, like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav, who have already stamped their names at the top, but the team needs backup for them in case players like them have an off day. Yes, they have bowlers like Vipraj Nigam, but somehow they have a lack of more big spinners who can take control when needed for the camp in IPL 2025.
KL Rahul’s batting position
KL Rahul will either top the batting charts or play in the middle order. How things come for this superstar batter remains to be seen, he has been in poor form in recent months when it comes to scoring quick runs. If he bats at the top, the team will expect him to score quickly, but he hasn’t been able to do so in recent times. The other option for him is batting at No. 4 or No. 5, a position where he has played in ODIs. However, in T20s, we expect him to score quickly at the top, which creates confusion for the team about where he should bat in the star-packed batting line-up. It will be interesting to see how things play out, but currently, this issue is causing problems heading into IPL 2025.
