3 Teams that will require pacers the most in the IPL 2025 mega auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction will be held on November 24-25 in Jeddah, with teams ready to complete their squads.

Pacers have consistently been some of the most influential players in the Indian Premier League, with teams boasting top pacers often staying at the top of the points table, as these bowlers become key match-winners. This year, many teams have included pacers in their retention lists, but there are still a few that have opted not to retain any, likely planning to target them in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals’ pacers were not effective in the IPL 2024 season, which is why the franchise did not retain any pacers for the upcoming season. They will need to target pacers who can help them win matches in IPL 2025. Several top pacers, such as Mitchell Starc, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, will be available in the auction. However, they must be very thoughtful before making any investments.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans also need to pick a few pacers in the auction, as their retention list does not include any. While they have Rashid Khan as a spinner and several key batters, they will need fast bowlers to build a well-rounded team. They have retained Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan, apart from Rashid Khan, but they currently have no pacers in their squad.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings have retained two players, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, both of whom are batters. They have let go of Arshdeep Singh, and it is possible they will use the RTM card to buy him back. Alternatively, they may look to target other quality pacers.

As Punjab Kings need to complete their full squad, they must choose their pacers wisely, as they cannot afford to invest heavily in their favorite targets.
