3 teams that might buy Rishabh Pant if DC releases him ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

Who can go for Rishabh Pant if things change? Although nothing is still confirmed, but what will happen if DC does not retain Pant? Which team can eye this superstar in the IPL 2025 mega auction?

Rishabh Pant, a name that doesn’t need any introduction, whether it’s about playing for India or in the IPL, he snatches the crowd’s attention with his absolute aggressive batting performances and also with his Spiderman-like flexibility in wicketkeeping. He always comes out on top. Speaking just about the IPL, as mentioned, with his top-notch attributes playing for DC, he has done a magical job to date with more than 100 games and tons of runs. This is not the only way to describe this champion player. However, after serving Delhi Capitals for a long time, there are chances that some changes may occur, as Rishabh Pant may leave the franchise.

Although initially Pant himself dismissed the rumors of him joining another franchise, but just a few days back, his own post on X caught attention, where he asked his fans if he goes to the auction, whether he would get sold or not, and if yes, then how much he would get. Now, these cryptic remarks are making things interesting. So lets we assume he’ll go to the IPL 2025 mega auction, which teams might do everything to get this power-packed player? See three teams that may be eyeing him if DC doesn’t retain him.

Teams that might buy Rishabh Pant at the IPL 2025 auction

Mumbai Indians

The first team that could go for Rishabh Pant is the five-time champions, Mumbai Indians, and there are multiple reasons. It will be interesting to see how they deal with Ishan Kishan, as Kishan is currently their main frontline wicketkeeper. The retention list, which everyone is speculating about from MI’s side, is mostly composed of players like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah. Since nothing is confirmed from MI’s retention list, it will all come very soon, as franchises have the deadline of October 31 to submit their lists. However, if we assume that Ishan will not continue as the keeper and if Rishabh Pant goes into the auction, then MI will surely eye this superstar due to his aggressive approach towards batting and what he can do with his keeping skills, which do not need any introduction.

Chennai Super Kings

Who, after Dhoni, is the question here in the CSK camp? CSK needs a few quality wicketkeepers, and there is certainly a need since MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL is still a question that everyone seeks an answer to, will he play in IPL 2025, and what happens after that? In that scenario, no one is better for them than Rishabh Pant, since both players possess similar qualities in batting. Although Pant bats a little higher up the order than MS, everyone is well aware of how they both perform with the bat. Adding to this, just a few months back, there were rumors that Rishabh Pant may move to CSK, but things still don’t have a clear picture. but, CSK could surely eye Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

No Dinesh Karthik at RCB since the finisher retired after last year’s IPL, which means there is a vacant space. Although RCB may likely go for KL Rahul if he doesn’t get into LSG, they could possibly make him the captain to lead the Bengaluru franchise in the upcoming years. However, for outside chances, we may see RCB, who are looking for their first trophy, go for a player with an even more aggressive gameplay style, which could bring them to Rishabh Pant.
