3 players Rajasthan Royals might release ahead of IPL 2024 Auction

Rajasthan Royals finished on the fifth spot in the last concluded IPL edition. RR won seven out of 14 matches.

Champions of the inaugural IPL, Rajasthan Royals have had their moments in the Indian Premier League. Rajasthan Royals recent best performance came in IPL 2022 as they reached the final match before losing to Gujarat Titans. In IPL 2023, Rajasthan Royals finished on the fifth spot with seven wins in 14 games. Ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction, the Royals will be looking to release some players. In this article, we will take a look at the top contenders who might be released from the Rajasthan Royals squad.

Joe Root

The prime contender in RR’s list might be Joe Root. After purchasing him in the last IPL auction, Joe Root could not deliver for Rajasthan Royals. Coming out to bat at the number 3 position, Root managed to score just 10 runs in three games. However, he did not come out to bat on two occasions due to his lack of power-hitting. Clearly, Root did not fit in the Rajasthan’s squad and might be released by the former IPL champs.

2. Donovan Ferreira

The Royals might also release Donovan Ferreira as the South African batter did not feature in any IPL match last year. A destructive batter once set, Ferreira has the ability to clear the ropes easily. However, his caliber cannot be match with the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Jos Buttler who have been performing for Rajasthan in the recent years. It remains to be seen if Donovan will retain his place in Rajasthan’s camp or not.

3. KC Cariappa

In the spin department, KC Cariappa might face the axe with the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Murugan Ashwin already in the squad. Just the above-mentioned spinners, Cariappa also has the ability to bowl different variations. As a result, Cariappa might be released from the Rajasthan Royals and find a new home for the upcoming IPL season.
