Defending champs of the IPL, Chennai Super Kings will have some decisions to make ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings won its record fifth IPL title after defending Gujarat Titans in the final match. Meanwhile in this article, we will take a look at the possible three players who might be released from Chennai’s squad ahead of the upcoming IPL auction.
1. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is a player who looks set to be released by Chennai Super Kings. Stokes is likely to undergo a knee surgery after the World Cup, which will put his participation in IPL 2024 in doubt. Even if Stokes is available, CSK might still release him due to the high price tag. Even in last IPL, Stokes did not had much of a say as he missed most of the tournament owing to injury.
2. Dwaine Pretorius
Dwaine Pretorius joined Chennai Super Kings for INR 50 lakh in the mega auction of 2022. The South-African all-rounder played six matches in 2022 and got to play one match in 2023 even when Stokes was absent for majority of the IPL. It remains to be seen if Pretorius manages to hold his position in the CSK camp or will he be released.
3. Aakash Singh
Making his debut in IPL 2023, Aakash Singh scalped five wickets in his six IPL appearances. Despite having decent numbers with the ball, Chennai Super Kings might release Aakas as the likes of Mukesh Choudhary and Deepak Chahar are expected to be fully available for the next edition.
