The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction is expected to see a high demand for pacers. In the previous IPL 2024 auction, two of the most expensive players were pacers, including Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins. Kolkata Knight Riders picked up Starc for ₹24.75 crores, while Cummins was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad as their captain.
3 pacers who will be demand in IPL 2025 auction
Josh Hazlewood
Josh Hazlewood is expected to be in high demand when he goes under the hammer. Hazlewood missed the IPL 2024 due to paternity leave. He has been one of the best pacers in the shorter format, and considering the auction trends, he could secure a hefty amount.
Hazlewood has taken 65 wickets in 51 T20I matches. He hasn’t played an IPL match since 2021, but RCB would likely be interested in acquiring him.
Mitchell Strac
The most expensive player, Mitchell Starc, could be released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as he did not perform up to expectations in the previous season. Despite his underwhelming performance in IPL 2024, Starc is a pacer that all teams will be interested in acquiring. The Australian bowler has the pace and speed to dismiss any player.
Starc’s best IPL season was in 2015, where he took 20 wickets in 13 matches.
