3 Indian cricket stars whose high-profile marriages ended in divorce

Since Hardik Pandya's divorce is currently a hot topic, take a look at three top Indian cricketers who have gone through the wound called 'divorce'

With Hardik Pandya and Natasa Stankovic recently announcing their official separation, the topic of ‘divorce’ has come into the spotlight, despite being something few wish to discuss.

However, it is also true that Hardik is not the only Indian cricketer who has experienced this. There have been various Indian cricketers in the past who were unable to maintain their marriages, leading to divorce. Let’s take a look at a few top Indian cricketers who have gone through the wound called divorce.

Cricketers whose marriages ended in divorce

Shikhar Dhawan and Ayesha Mukherjee

Shikhar Dhawan married Ayesha Mukherjee in 2012. After spending 11 years together, they officially divorced in 2023. Throughout their marriage, Dhawan consistently supported his wife, Ayesha Mukherjee. However, over time, their relationship deteriorated, leading to their decision to divorce. The Family Court of Delhi granted the divorce, stating that the petitioner (Shikhar Dhawan) was entitled to a decree of divorce on the grounds of cruelty.

Mohammed Shami and Hasin Jahan

India’s champion fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, who has achieved remarkable success for India over the years, has also faced challenges in his personal life. Shami met former model and cheerleader Hasin Jahan during the 2012 IPL season. The couple dated for two years and got married in 2014.

Their relationship initially flourished, and they welcomed a baby girl in 2015. However, in 2017, their relationship took a turn for the worse when Hasin Jahan accused her husband of extramarital affairs. This accusation led to further complications, and since then, the couple has been separated.

Vinod Kambli and Noella Lewis

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli also went through a divorce. In 1998, Kambli married his childhood friend Noella Lewis at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Poona. Noella Lewis worked as a receptionist at Hotel Blue Diamond in Pune. Kambli later married former model Andrea Hewitt and converted to Christianity for the union. They share two sons and a daughter, including Jesus Christiano Kambli.
