Chennai Super Kings are the five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions as they are preparing to lift their sixth title in the upcoming IPL 2025 season with a formidable squad assembled during the mega auction. However, CSK’s campaign could face major setbacks, as their three key players have a history of injury problems. Their No 1 opener Devon Conway missed IPL 2024 with an injury while Matheesha Pathirana and Kamlesh Nagarkoti have also struggled with injuries in recent times.
IPL 2025: CSK’s injury prone players
Devon Conway
Devon Conway of New Zealand, a consistent top-order performer, was retained by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) via the Right to Match Card. Despite his constant performances, CSK would wait with bated breath as Conway has a history of fitness concerns. Conway missed IPL 2024 as he had to undergo surgery for a broken thumb. If Conway is unable to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season owing to fitness issues, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face the difficulty of finding a suitable replacement for their starting lineup.
Matheesha Pathirana
Matheesha Pathirana of Sri Lanka, a teenage pacer famed for his lethal death-over bowling, has been a significant match-winner for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in recent seasons. However, his unorthodox bowling style has left him prone to injury, raising concerns over his availability. While he is fit now, CSK will keep a close tab on Pathirana ahead of IPL 2025.
Kamlesh Nagarkoti
Kamlesh Nagarkoti, picked up by CSK for Rs 30 lakh as a reserve player, has struggled with recurring injuries throughout his career. While his potential is undeniable, his history of fitness issues will be a cause for concern. Nagarkoti has been busy in the domestic circuit but with still three months to go, CSK would want him injury free.
