India has entered the next stage of the T20 World Cup 2024. India finished at the top of their group in the tournament and will now travel to Barbados for the Super 8 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. They are set to encounter tougher oppositions such as Afghanistan and Australia, as well as either Bangladesh or the Netherlands. With the new challenge in Super 8, here are three things India would be tested with.
Three challenges for India in Super 8
Toughest competition – Australia
Australia will be the toughest challenge for India. In India’s group, they will face Afghanistan, Australia, and either Bangladesh or Netherlands. The ‘Men in Blue’ have excellent records against all three opponents except Australia. Although India holds a 3-2 lead against Australia in T20 World Cup encounters, Australia has recently proven to be the team that knocks India out of ICC events.

Contrast in conditions
We have transitioned from the USA leg to the West Indies in the tournament. The conditions in these two countries starkly contrast each other: one favors pacers with its pitches, while the other supports spinners. India, having established a successful lineup, will need to adapt to these diverse conditions. The Indian team must adjust their strategy accordingly in the Caribbean, responding adeptly to the varying pitch conditions.
Spin combination
India has relied on a pace-heavy lineup so far in the tournament, but now they must include an extra spinner due to the slow and turning pitches in the West Indies. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are viable options for inclusion, although neither has had match practice in the tournament.
