The wicketkeeper-batter, who plays for the Melbourne Renegades in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and South Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL), is currently hospitalized in Brisbane.

Sudden Medical Emergency for Josie Dooley

Australian cricketer Dooley’s ordeal began in April while she was enjoying a trip to Kauai, Hawaii. She unexpectedly suffered a stroke caused by hydrocephalus, a condition characterized by a buildup of fluid in the brain.

The seriousness of the situation necessitated an emergency airlift to Honolulu for specialized neurosurgical treatment.

Extensive hospital stay and return to Brisbane

Following a successful surgery, Dooley spent 18 days in the intensive care unit at Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu. Her recovery continued in a neurosurgical ward for an additional 12 days before she was deemed fit to travel back home.

She was then medically evacuated to Brisbane, where she is currently receiving ongoing treatment.
