Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav, who made the headlines last year for touching 157 kmph in IPL, has only warmed the bench in IPL 2025 due to a long-standing injury. That has impacted the results for the Rishabh Pant-led team at a certain level, too. But then, in what could come as a major breakthrough for the team and the owner, Sanjiv Goenka, Mayank Yadav has gotten a green chit from the NCA and could be in action very soon.
Mayank Yadav Fit to Play in IPL 2025
In short, Mayank has recovered from his back and toe injury and is all set to join the LSG team by Tuesday and could be in contention to play their next match vs RR in Jaipur on April 19. The NCA sources confirmed that he would be match-ready this week. “He is fighting fit and should be raring to go now,” a source told My Khel.
Big Positive for LSG
It is important to note that Mayank was one of the retentions made by the LSG team; another pacer from the side, Mohsin Khan, had already been ousted from the tournament due to an injury, and as a result, Shardul Thakur was roped in by the franchise as a replacement.
The 22-year-old pacer from Delhi had made a mark for himself in 2024, when in 4 matches for LSG, he picked up 7 wickets at an average of 12, and an economy of 6.98, and tormented the batters with his sheer pace. Post that, he went on to play a few matches for Team India as well- where he picked up four wickets in three matches.
