144 days to go for IND vs PAK T20 World Cup clash, ICC breaks silence on New York stadium condition

Less than 5 months remain, ICC finally sheds light on New York Stadium set to host IND vs PAK clash

Just 144 days remain for the much awaited IND vs PAK T20 World Cup clash. The ICC has finally broken their silence on the condition of the New York Stadium. The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has been unveiled today. With construction work continuing, it will be a race against time before the first match of the tournament is held.

While the demarcation of the site has been done, the turf works is set to be commenced from 22nd January. The site construction has started and the fence work is currently underway.

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium is set to host 34,000 fans for the upcoming major ICC event. The stadium is located near the New York City and will provide world class facilities and experience for the fans.

“We are excited to be unveiling the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. It is an incredibly important milestone in the lead up to the biggest ICC event ever, with work commencing on the stadium which will be able to accommodate 34,000 cricket fans,” said Geoff Allardice, ICC Chief Executive.

We are partnering with world-class suppliers to deliver the modular stadium to ensure that players and fans can enjoy an unforgettable experience across the eight matches in New York in June this year,”

Timeline for Nassau County International Cricket Stadium Construction

The ICC has given their timeline for the construction of the stadium. Once the turf works are done, the stadium materials are set to be delivered by the last week of January. The stadium construction will being in the first week of February. The stadium construction is set to be completed on 6th May. The Test event will be on 27th May while the first match on the ground will be on 3rd June.

Delivery of stadium materials – W/B 29 January
Commencement of stadium construction – W/B 5 February
Commencement of construction of drop in pitch area – W/B 1 April
Commencement of turfing of outfield – W/B 29 April
Installation of drop in trays/pitches – W/B 6 May
Stadium construction completion – W/B 6 May
Completion of testing and commissioning – W/B 13 May
Test event – W/B 27 May
First match – Sri Lanka v South Africa – 3 June
India vs Pakistan – 9 June
