13-run loss in 2nd T20I extends Pakistan’s wait for a win against Australia in their homesoil

Pakistan's long-standing quest for a T20I victory in Australia persists, after another close encounter ended in a 13-run defeat in the 2nd match. Eventually losing the series.

After winning the historic ODI series in Australia, Pakistan couldn’t replicate the same in the T20Is as Australia continued the winning streak in the second match of AUS vs PAK T20I series after securing a 2-0 lead. The Sydney Cricket Ground witnessed some thrilling cricket on Saturday, with Australia defeating Pakistan by 13 runs in the second T20I. This win ensured the series win for Australia, and the wait for Pakistan continues as they have yet to secure a win a match against the mighty Aussies in T20Is on Australian soil.

Australia posted a total of 147/9 in their 20 overs, with Matthew Short and Aaron Hardie contributing key runs while Haris Rauf claimed four wickets for Pakistan. In response, Pakistan was bowled out for 134 in 19.4 overs, as Spencer Johnson’s outstanding five-wicket performance led Australia to a 13-run victory.

Australia opted to bat first after winning the toss. The innings had a steady start with Matthew Short (32 off 17) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (20 off 9) giving Australia a rapid start. Despite losing wickets regularly, Aaron Hardie contributed with a crucial 28 runs, helping Australia post a total of 147/9 in 20 overs. Irfan Khan’s unbeaten 37 till the last over wasn’t enough as the rest of the lineup crumbled against Australia’s bowling.
