Gone with the Wind - India's top order collapses in IND vs AUS World Cup opener

Horror for India. Tasked to chase just a mere target set by Australia, the Indian top order fell apart like a pack of cards! The Men in Blue were shattered against an Aussie pace attack in their World Cup opener. Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer departed without troubling the scoreboard.

Tasked to chase just 200 runs set by Australia, India’s happiness was shortlived. The Men in Blue gasped for breath when the scorecard read 2-3. The top order went back to the pavilion without scoring a single run and 2 added by Australia themselves as extras.

In the absence of Shubman Gill who is suffering from dengue, Ishan Kishan was promoted up the order and he went to open proceedings for India. Mumbai India’s opening pair Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma went to the middle hoping to get a good start. Ishan played a reckless shot on the first ball that he faced and threw his wicket.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was next to depart. Failing to judge the pace and the swing of the ball he was lbw. Shreyas Iyer came next and he too returned soon after playing a horrible shot and gave away an easy catch to David Warner.
