Rahmanullah Gurbaz is a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter representing Afghanistan. Gurbaz began his professional career in 2017 when he made his List A debut for Afghanistan A during a tour of Zimbabwe. In the 2017-18 Shpageeza Cricket League season, he made his T20 debut for Mis Ainak Knights against Band-E-Amir Dragons. He was named in the Afghanistan Under-19 squad for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup and ended the tournament with 134 runs in five innings.
After the 2019 Under-19 World Cup, Gurbaz made his first-class debut for the Mis Ainak Region against the Boost Region during the Alokozay Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. In 2019, the Afghan selectors took notice of his performances for the Under-19 and Under-23 sides and named him to the senior team for the T20I tri-series against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. He went on to make his T20I debut against the latter and a couple of years later, in 2021, he made his ODI debut against Ireland.
Gurbaz has appeared in several franchise leagues across the globe, such as the Bangladesh Premier League, the Pakistan Super League, and the Lanka Premier League. He was brought in by the Gujarat franchise as a replacement for Jason Roy in the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League but did not play a single game in his team’s title-winning campaign. He was transferred to the Kolkata franchise ahead of the auction for the 2023 edition and has remained a part of the franchise even in 2024. Gurbaz also had a successful outing with the national side in the 2023 ICC Men’s World Cup but his consistency leaves a bit to be desired.
