Sri Lanka’s innings never took off while chasing a par-total. The Sri Lankan batters made some poor shot choices, which enabled Henry Shipley and Matt Henry to bowl superbly with the new ball. By 10 overs, they were 31-5, and from that point on, there was no turning back.

The only top-order batsman to reach double figures was Angelo Mathews, and Sri Lanka continued to falter until they were eventually bowled out for a pitiful 76. Shipley was the best bowler for New Zealand, claiming 5-31 in 7 overs and recording his first ODI century.

New Zealand finish their innings at 274 as Chamika Karunaratne finishes with four wickets to his name.

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Nuwanidu Fernando, Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(w), Charith Asalanka, Angelo Mathews, Dasun Shanaka(c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Lahiru Kumara, Dilshan Madushanka.
