LSG set to part ways with Andy Flower, Justin Langer frontrunner for IPL 2024

With increasing responsibilities of Andy Flower, Lucknow Super Giants are looking for a change in head coach. LSG are currently negotiating a deal with former Australian coach Justin Langer.

Lucknow Super Giants are all set to have a new coach for IPL 2024. With contract with Andy Flower coming to an end, it is unlikely that the two parties will renew contract despite two fairly successful seasons where LSG reached playoffs. Former Australia coach Justin Langer is the frontrunner for the role.

As per a Cricbuzz report, Justin Langer and Lucknow Super Giants are currently in negotiation. Although neither the franchise, nor the former Australia batter confirmed the development, Flower’s contract came to an end with IPL 2023. The former Zimbabwe dasher is currently acting as a batting consultant to Australia Cricket Team in Ashes 2023.

However, LSG are unlikely to change their entire coaching staff. Gautam Gambhir will continue as the mentor while Vijay Dahiya will remain the assistant coach.

The likes of bowling coach Morne Morkel, fielding coach Jonty Rhodes and spin bowling coach Pravin tambe too will keep their positions.

Under Tambe, Ravi Bishnoi has excelled while Avesh Khan, Mark Wood too put up good shows under Morkel. Overall fielding too has been good for LSG in the last two seasons.

Lucknow Super Giants Support Staff (Current):

  • Team mentor: Gautam Gambhir
  • Head coach: Andy Flower
  • Assistant coach: Vijay Dahiya
  • Spin bowling coach: Pravin Tambe
  • Fast bowling coach: Morne Morkel
  • Fielding coach: Jonty Rhodes
  • Physiotherapist: James Pipe
  • Strength and conditioning coach: Warren Andrews

Change is not only in the air for LSG. Other franchises are also looking to shuffle their coaching staff. Delhi Capitals have already released two assistant coaches in Shane Watson and Ajit Agarkar.

While Ricky Ponting keeps the job, some more changes are likely in the franchise. Similarly, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad are also looking at changes in the coaching staff.
