Roy was acquired by Knight Riders for INR 2.8 crore; his pre-season auction base price was INR 1.5 crore. Roy last participated in the IPL in 2021 after choosing to forgo the tournament last year and taking an indefinite break from cricket. He was bought by Gujarat Titans in the auction.
He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021, scoring 150 runs from five games with an average of 30. He had chosen to forego participating in the IPL in 2020 while playing for the Delhi Capitals due to personal considerations.
GT vs KKR
Following a close loss to Punjab Kings in their season opener, KKR rebounded on Thursday by thrashing Royal Challengers Bangalore by a huge margin of 81 runs at the Eden Gardens. While batting first, Kolkata was 89/5 and once more facing defeat when Shardul Thakur changed the course of events.
The all-rounder helped the hosts reach 204 by scoring 68 runs in only 29 balls and putting together a 109-run partnership with Rinku Singh for the 6th wicket. The spin combination of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma stopped Royal Challengers’ chase as the visitors were bowled out for 123. The two-time IPL champions will want to maintain their current pace.
