“I don’t know, I have 8-9 months to decide. I have ample time to decide. The auction is in December. I will always come to CSK. I have been out of home from January, been practicing since March, so we will see,” MS Dhoni told Harsha Bhogle during post-match presentation after win over GT.

However, even if Dhoni draws the curtains on his illustrious career, he promised to stick around CSK.

“Why take that headache now. I’ll always be there for CSK, where it’s playing or something outside,” Dhoni added.

Even though fans, the franchise, and Thala Dhoni want to continue for one more year, it is going to be tough. MS Dhoni has been struggling with a knee injury. Throughout IPL 2023, he has managed the injury. After the IPL 2023 Final on May 28, Dhoni will have some time off to decide his future.

Earlier, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, he believed Dhoni would continue for one more year before handing over the captaincy reins to someone in the team ahead of IPL 2025 Auction. But the ball is of course in Dhoni’s court to take the call.

“We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well, so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said last week.

As for the match, CSK put up a superlative performance to shoot down high-flying Gujarat Titans by 15 runs. Sent to bat, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 44-ball 60 as CSK posted 172/7 in 20 overs.

With the ball, Deepak Chahar (2/29), Maheesh Theekshana (2/28), Matheesha Pathirana (2/37) and above all Ravindra Jadeja (2/18) were exceptional. They bowled out Hardik Pandya & Co for 157 to win the game.

IPL is too big to say it’s just another final. I won’t say it’s just another final. It’s hard work of two months. Everybody has contributed. Yes, middle-order has not got ample opportunity. If Jaddu gets conditions that help him. he’s very difficult to hit. His bowling changed the game. Not to forget his partnership with Moeen. I can be a very annoying captain, I keep shifting fielders 2-3 feet. What I ask the fielders is, keep an eye on me,” Dhoni said of the match.
