MI Playing XI vs KKR: MI vs KKR – Arjun Tendulkar is making his debut for Mumbai Indians for the first time in 2 years. Arjun was first bought by the Mumbai-based franchise in IPL 2021 auction. However, he didn’t get a chance to play a single match till now. Arjun will play his first IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders. Meanwhile, SuryaKumar Yadav is leading the Mumbai side, while their regular captain Rohit Sharma is in the substitute players list. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Jr Tendulkar has been warming the bench for the last three seasons. While he has been elevated to substitute as an Impact Player in the last two games, his number is yet to come. With Jason Behrendorff leading the left-arm pace attack besides Arshad Khan, MI have deemed it surplus to have another left-arm pacer.
MI Playing XI vs KKR: Will Arjun Tendulkar get a chance at home?
- Despite a relatively successful domestic campaign, MI team management is yet to show trust in the young man.
- With Cameron Green, Riley Meredith, Jason Behrendorff and Arshad Khan in the pace attack, it is unlikely Arjun will get a go.
- MI have put their trust in Arshad Khan. But he has only managed 1 wicket so far in three games.
- With KKR visiting Wankhede Stadium, MI could finally give Arjun the chance.
- But having said that, Rohit Sharma rarely upsets the winning combination.
- With MI returning to winning ways against Delhi Capitals, it is unlikely that Arjun will get a chance.
As for other positions, Rohit Sharma hitting a half-century was important for MI. Rohit already spoke about the need for the seniors to fire. While Rohit led the way, Ishan Kishan hasn’t quite left an impression yet.
Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run of form is a big concern for MI with the bulk of the scoring duties falling on young Tilak Verma. SKY has returned scores of 15, 1 and 0. Had it not been for Tim David and Cameron Green’s cameo against DC, MI would have had a hat-trick of losses.
In the bowling department, MI still have a lot of work to do with Jofra Archer sidelined once again. There is no timeline on his return as England and MI both won’t be taking any risk with Archer with Ashes around the corner.
