IPL 2023 Opening Ceremony: After a four-year gap, BCCI is all set to revive the opening ceremony for Indian Premier League. For the last three years, the opening ceremony did not take place due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, now that the restrictions are over and lives returned to normalcy, there will be an opening ceremony at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. An hour of the ceremony has been planned ahead of Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings opening match on March 31. Follow Indian Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.

“Yes, there will be an opening ceremony on the 31st. It will be a short one but as the home and away format returns, we felt it was necessary to welcome back the home crowd with a ceremony,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

BCCI had an opening ceremony for the Women’s Premier League as well. But it received a mixed response in absence of superstars. However, for the IPL Opening ceremony, BCCI wants several Bollywood A-listers.

InsideSport understands that popular Bollywood singers like Arijit Singh have been contacted for a live performance. However, no artist has been confirmed as of writing.

It should be noted that IPL 2023 has returned to the home-and-away format after a three-year gap. However, despite a home-and-away format in 2019, there was no opening ceremony to pay tributes to the martyrs of the Pulwama attacks.
