Most IPL runs: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni on Monday joined elite list of cricketers who completed 5000 runs mark in the history of Indian Premier League(IPL) history. Most IPL Runs: MS Dhoni breaks batting record in Chepauk
MS Dhoni is just the seventh player to breach the 5000 run mark in the history of IPL . Before the LSG match, he had scored 4978 runs. He reached the landmark in his 208th innings. Currently Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers are ahead of him in the list.
Dhoni now needs 158 runs during the tournament to surpass AB de Villiers in the list and take the No 6 spot on the table. Virat Kohli currently leads the overall IPL run chart with 6707 runs from 224 matches. Shikhar Dhawan takes second place with 6284 in 207 IPL matches.
David Warner is third on the list with 5937 in 163 IPL matches. Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is fourth with 5880 runs in 228 IPL matches. Former CSK player Raina (5528 runs in 205 IPL matches), and AB de Villiers (5162 runs in 184 IPL matches) are fifth and sixth on the list respectively .
CSK post challenging total for LSG
Chennai Super Kings posted 218 runs for Lucknow Super Ginats to chase ourtesy of fine knock from Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway at the top. Gaikwad scored his second consecutive hald century scoring 57 runs. Conway got out for 47 runs. Amabati Rayadu also contributed with thebat playing a cameo knock of 27 runs from 14 balls.
