IPL 2023: Rishabh Pant-less Delhi Capitals (DC) and Virat Kohli starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have the least chances of making the Indian Premier League 2023 playoffs, a simulator has predicted. According to a statistical simulation model developed by D & P Advisory, the four teams predicted to advance to the playoffs of the upcoming IPL season are Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Supergiants (LSG), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Mumbai Indians (MI).
On Friday, the IPL’s new season gets underway in Ahmedabad with the defending champions Gujarat Titans taking against the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings.
The two powerhouse teams Chennai and Mumbai Indians finished last in season 15 with the two new teams Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants performing incredibly well to enter the final.

Predicting IPL 2023 Playoffs
The IPL, which is currently in its 16th season, is one of the most watched sporting events in the world because of the drama it generates on the pitch; thus far, out of 950 matches played, there have been 564 last-over finishes, with 350 matches going in favor of the team defending the total.
Also, there have been 35 last-ball victories in 100 games where the margin of defeat was 10 runs or less.
The Monte Carlo simulation has been used by D & P Advisory, who frequently develop IPL brand valuations, to predict the four teams that advance to the play-offs.
“To predict the ‘Top Four’ of the league phase of the upcoming 2023 season of the Indian Premier League, we have relied on Monte Carlo simulation, a statistical technique that is generally used in the field of finance, but can be equally well applied in the business of sports. We value complex derivatives for which we simulate millions of future outcomes to estimate the fair value of the derivative. We have valued many such derivatives over the last several years and we thought of using that experience and skill on something that we all love – the IPL,” Santosh N, managing partner at D & P Advisory said as per The Indian Express.
