ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan World Cup Participation – The ongoing conflict of between BCCI and the PCB has reached a new height. Ex-PCB CEO and the General Manager of Cricket for ICC, Wasim Khan has claimed that Pakistan will now opt to choose to play the ICC World Cup 2023 at a neutral venue (likely to be Bangladesh) and not in India. This statement comes from Khan after the BCCI agreed to take part in the Asia Cup 2023 by playing the games at a neutral venue and not in Pakistan. “I don’t know if it would take place here on in a different country but a neutral venue is highly likely. I don’t think that Pakistan will play their matches in India. I think their matches will also be held at a neutral venue just like India’s Asia Cup matches,” Wasim Khan told a Local Pakistani TV Channel.

The main conflict began when India made it very clear that the team will not travel to Pakistan to play in the Asia Cup owing to the security concerns of the players. The PCB retorted back by claiming that Pakistan would boycott the World Cup, set to be held in India in October-November.

“Bangladesh was not discussed at all at the Board meeting and full backing for the event in India was given by the Board. We’re focused on that,” an ICC official told Cricbuzz.

The ICC decided to host a series of meetings where it was decided that India will take part in the Asia Cup but will not travel to Pakistan. On the other hand, Men in Blue will play in a neutral country, thereby opting for a hybrid model.

Taking a cue from the same, as per media reports in Pakistan, they too will likely opt for the same model where they will take part in the ICC World Cup but would play their matches at a neutral venue. While the political relations between the two neighboring countries remain at knife’s end, the BCCI previously claimed that the government of India will grant special visa clearance for the Pakistani players visiting India for the World Cup.
