Gujarat Titans vs Chennai Super Kings Highlights: GT vs CSK Highlights – An all-round show from Rashid Khan ensured Hardik Pandya completed a hat-trick of wins over MS Dhoni as GT began their IPL 2023 campaign with a win over CSK. Chasing 179, Shubman Gill scored a fine half-century but needed some later pyrotechnics from Rashid saw them over the line. Earlier, CSK put on a competitive 178, largely thanks to Ruturaj’s scintillating 92. Follow IPL 2023 LIVE updates with InsideSport.IN

Put into bat by Hardik Pandya, Chennai got off to a flyer with Ruturaj Gaikwad looking in ominous touch. Mohammed Shami cleaned up Devon Conway but that had no bearing on his partner who continued to take the attack to Hardik and Josh Little. Moeen Ali himself played a couple of attacking strokes as CSK got to their 50 in the final over of the powerplay.

Rashid Khan however brought GT back into the contest. Even as Gaikwad continued his onslaught, Khan got Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes cheaply. Ruturaj eventually reached his half-century in just 23 balls. Rayudu dropped anchor and built a fine partnership before being dismissed for 12.

Gaikwad looked primed for a century but fell short by 8 runs with Alzarri Joseph picking his wicket for 92. Wickets fell like a pack of cards and what once looked like a 200+ total became a distant dream. Some final over fireworks from MS Dhoni got the 4-time champions to 178/7.

The mid-innings break saw a moment of history, with Tushar Deshpande being introduced as the impact player for Chennai Super Kings in place of Ambati Rayudu. Deshpande struggled as Saha and Gill got their side to a flier. it was debutant Rajvardhan Hangargekar who struck to dismiss Saha in the fourth over. Sai Sudharsan became GT’s first impact sub, coming on for the injured Kane Williamson.

CSK pacers struggled for their line and length and Gill and Sudharsan kept plugging away the runs. It was only at Hangargekar’s re-introduction that Sudharsan edged one to MS Dhoni. Hardik Pandya had a short stay at the crease with Ravindra Jadeja getting his wicket.

Shubman got to his half-century in just 30 balls but soon perished for 63. GT were in control for the chase for most of the game but CSK sensed an opportunity with Vijay Shankar and Rahul Tewatia batting. Shankar played a crucial knock of 27 to keep them in the game. Rashid Khan then hit 10 off 2, before Tewatia finished the game off in style to help Gujarat to a 5-wicket win.
