Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov doesn’t intend to end his retirement. The Dagestani legend hung up his gloves after defending his lightweight title three times. Khabib beat Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje after beating McGregor, a fight that turned him into a superstar.

Khabib Nurmagomedov won 3 of his 4 title wins via submissions, but none of them happened in the first round. ‘The Eagle’ went the distance in his maiden title bout against Al Iaquinta and earned a unanimous win. There was no turning back from then. Khabib Nurmagomedov then submitted McGregor in the fourth record at UFC 229, submitted Poirier in round three at UFC 242, and Justin Gaethje in round two at UFC 254.

Per records, Conor McGregor has 5 first round KOs in the UFC which came against Jose Aldo (145 lbs), Donald Cerrone (170 lbs), Marcus Brimage (145 lbs), Dustin Poirier (145 lbs), and Diego Brandao (145 lbs). Khabib, however, could only stop Thiago Tavares (155 lbs) via TKO in the first round.

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov registered the most watched UFC fight in 2018, but most of the credit should go to ‘Notorious’. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s PPV status rose to its peak when he faced McGregor. However, McGregor is a part of all the top five UFC PPVs.
