WrestleMania 39: The talk between Paul Heyman and Conor McGregor seems to be building up into a big feud. Conor has now replied to Paul Heyman’s tweet; hours before WrestleMania 39 began on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the parent company of the UFC, Endeavor, was reportedly close to making a significant acquisition of the WWE, the most popular wrestling organization worldwide. According to CNBC, Endeavor would buy a 51 percent investment in the WWE and combine it with the UFC to form a new business under CEO Ari Emanuel of Endeavor. In a significant $4.25 billion transaction, Endeavor purchased control of the UFC in 2016. To own all of the company’s shares, it acquired the remaining stockholders in 2021. Emanuel reported $301.4 million in sales for Endeavor’s owned sports segment on February 28, an increase of 9% from the previous year. He attributed it to increased UFC rights payments, pay-per-view earnings, sponsorship, and licensing.

Emanuel was asked about a potential purchase of the WWE on that earnings call. He said then of  WWE executive chairman Vince McMahon “His Business is really valuable.”But Emanuel also said, “We’re not going to do anything that would increase our leverage at this point.”

Endeavor will get a tremendous boost in ratings from the united UFC-WWE entity. The USA Network’s “WWE Raw” is the highest-rated cable program, according to Sportico’s report from Friday. It has an average of 1.83 million viewers, up 9% from the previous year. Most notably, it has an average of 695,049 viewers in the 18-to-49 age group, which places it top in that demographic and represents an 18% increase from 2022.

Later in 2023, McGregor is scheduled to face Michael Chandler. At the WrestleMania 39 main event, Heyman will corner Roman Reigns, who currently holds the WWE Universal Title and WWE Championship.

It is not yet official that WWE has been sold to Endeavor.
