The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) gold is on Colby Covington’s mind. On Wednesday night, UFC President Dana White finally made it official. Recently, Colby Covington talked about his forthcoming title battle with Leon Edwards for the welterweight division and revealed the place where, if he prevails, he plans to have his first title defence.
‘Chaos’ revealed to James Lynch of MyMMANews that the UFC had previously planned to have the welterweight title match in July in London, England, but that plan fell through. He said that ‘Rocky’ turned down the chance to defend his title in front of his home audience, which is why the fight didn’t take place.

Colby Covington Promises To Bring The Welterweight Championship To The UK
In the years since Covington last competed in mixed martial arts (MMA), a lot has changed. Most recently, Sean Strickland was named as the new Middleweight division champion. Covington finds himself instantly drawn to the thought of eliminating the new 185-pound kingpin, despite the fact that he will have his hands full with Edwards first.
The champion, Covington, will defend his title against Edwards for the second time after defeating Usman in a March 2023 trilogy by a majority decision. “Chaos'” previous two attempts to win a UFC championship were unsuccessful due to Usman, who won the first contest by technical knockout in the fifth round and the rematch by unanimous decision.
With a new opponent this time, Covington is certain that his approach will cause “Rocky” trouble at the final UFC pay-per-view of 2023.
Colby Covington has mentioned that he would bring the welterweight championship to the UK if he were to face Leon Edwards and win the title. Because he enjoys the atmosphere that England offers, he mentioned telling the supporters that his first title defence will take place there, saying:
“I’ve already made the promise…I’m going win that undisputed title on December 16th and I’m gonna bring that title back to the UK and I’m gonna defend it there for those people cause they deserve a show cause they’re electric, and those are some of the most just thoughtful…just genuine fans I’ve ever met in my life.”
