Claressa Shields gets honest about getting knocked out by Hanna Gabriels

Back in 2018, Claressa Shields and Hanna Gabriels faced each other for the WBA and IBF female middleweight titles. This bout lasted for 10 rounds eventually, Sheilds pinning her victory in the end. However, the match also saw Claressa getting knocked down during the fight against Gabriels. During her recent interview with InsideSport, the current undisputed middleweight champion gave her honest opinion on her last encounter with Hanna Gabriels.

“I haven’t been frustrated at all with her being able to get a first-round knockdown. It would be different if she knocked me down and she won the fight. Then I would be upset. But she knocked me down and I continued to fight and won the rest of the rounds. So I don’t care about that.”

Later, the 28-year-old fighter explained that she doesn’t like Hanna Gabriels’ behavior outside the ring. She said Gabriels has continued to mock her during interviews and social media which is completely opposite when they meet in person. Also, she mentioned how the former four-division champion has been mean towards her following their last encounter.

It is a heated battle between the two ladies as they will be facing one another in the future once again. Currently, Shields will be facing Maricela Cornejo this Saturday, June 3rd for the Undisputed Middleweight titles.
