The first set between the two players, as expected, was a close affair. Both the players gave it their all and there was nothing to choose as well. It was so tight that the game was eventually decided by a tie break.

Medvedev knew if he had to stay alive in the race for the final, he would need to win the second set. He raised his game and won the second to force the game into the deciding set. With the kind of record Medvedev had against Tsitsipas,  the former was looked upon as favourite.

But then, Tsitsipas was in no mood to let this game ease past by. He delivered in the final set to win it 6-3 and reach the final and set up a date with Coric.

As for Coric, his semifinal was a much smoother affair. His match against Cameron Norrie just lasted for around the one and half hour mark, with Coric winning it in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4. It helped him reach a Masters 1000 final for the second time in his career as well.

Coric admitted that he took some time to get his game going in the semifinal. But once he found his range, there was stopping the Croatian.

“At the beginning I was not there, I was not feeling the ball very well,” the Croatian said after the match. “Then I did find my rhythm. I started to serve better, I started to play much better and I think that was the key to the match.”
