Chris Jordan: IPL 2023: Mumbai Indians have signed England pacer Chris Jordan for the remainder of the tournament. Jordan has already joined the MI camp ahead of their match against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Jordan, who went unsold at the IPL auction held in December last year, has previously played with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Jordan has picked up 27 wickets in 28 IPL innings at an average of 30.85 and an economy rate of 9.32. He played for Super Kings in the last edition of IPL, managing only two wickets in four outings. However, his recent form has been impressive, as he finished as the leading wicket-taker in the ILT20 tournament, picking 20 wickets in ten innings.
Mumbai Indians have struggled with their international fast bowlers this season, with Jasprit Bumrah unavailable, Jhye Richardson ruled out, and Jofra Archer recently returning from Belgium after meeting an elbow specialist. While Riley Meredith replaced Richardson, it is not yet known who Jordan has replaced in the Mumbai camp.
Jordan’s inclusion in the Mumbai Indians squad will provide them with much-needed depth and experience in their bowling attack. The 34-year-old has the ability to bowl at the death and is known for his accurate yorkers.
Mumbai Indians are set to face Rajasthan Royals on Sunday evening. The Rohit Sharma-led side is currently going through a rough patch in the ongoing IPL 2023. With just three wins from their seven matches, Mumbai Indians are currently placed in the eighth spot in the points table.
