The world’s top chess players are preparing to battle it out once again as the Global Chess League (GCL) announces its much-anticipated second edition. Following a thrilling debut season in Dubai, London will take center stage this October, hosting prestigious matches from October 3rd to 12th at the historic Friends House.
Unique format for Chess
The GCL offers a refreshing twist on traditional chess tournaments. Teams, consisting of six players each, will compete in a unique joint format. This ensures a healthy mix of experience and youthful talent, with each team featuring two top women chess players and a rising prodigy alongside more established stars.
This innovative approach allows young talents like India’s Praggnanandhaa to learn from legends like Magnus Carlsen, fostering camaraderie and growth within the chess community.
