Chelsea is in the bottom half of the Premier League, will finish the season without a trophy, and will not participate in European competition next season after spending £600 million in the previous two transfer windows.
Since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain last summer after 18 months in charge of the French team, where he had led them to the Ligue 1 championship in 2022 and the French Cup the year before, Pochettino has been jobless. From May 2014, the ex-Espanyol manager headed Spurs for five years, however he failed to bring home a trophy for the north London side.

The most likely centre forward target is Lautaro Martinez of Argentina and Inter. Victor Osimhen is coveted by numerous teams, including Chelsea, but getting him out of Napoli will be difficult. Christopher Nkunku was already acquired by Chelsea from RB Leipzig for £63 million.
Declan Rice is still a target for Chelsea, but they will have to contend with Arsenal and Liverpool for his services, as well as Alexis Mac Allister of Brighton. Goalkeeper options include Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa.
Pochettino was considered as Tuchel’s replacement in September, but given the teams’ long-standing rivalry, the new owners in the English game were reluctant to hire an ex-Spurs manager.
