Chelsea Injuries: Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard addressed the media before their next match against Brentford on Wednesday. As he was asked about the injury updates, he informed that both Mason Mount and Reece James will be missing the remaining games of the season. Mount could come back for their last game of this season, but that remains a doubt and will hugely depend on his recovery. Follow Premier League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
After joining the struggling West London side, the interim manager Frank Lampard still hasn’t won a single match. He has managed 4 matches including 2 Premier League matches against Brighton and Wolves and two Champions League quarter-final matches against Real Madrid. During their second-leg match against Real Madrid, Reece James sustained a hamstring injury.

Mason Mount has been suffering from a recurring abdominal issue for quite some time now. He has undergone surgery for the issue on Tuesday. As per reports, it will take him at least 3-4 weeks to recover from the surgery. Hence, it can be expected that will remain sidelined for the rest of the games this season. However, the coach implied that Mount might be back for Chelsea’s last match.
Chelsea take on in-form Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge for their last match of the season. Even though Mount could be available for the top-flight match, the coach has completely ruled out Reece James. Both James and Mount are regular starters and key players in the team, so losing them at this stage will be tough on an already struggling Chelsea side.
During the pre-Brentford press conference, coach Lampard said, “Reece James unavailable. Probably for the season. Mason Mount probably the same. Potential for the last game but probably not. Kai [Havertz] won’t be available tomorrow.”
Chelsea currently occupy the 11th position on the league table and their next opponent, Brentford are sitting in the 10th position. Lampard has not proved himself worthy of the permanent position at the club. Additionally, Chelsea is close to signing Mauricio Pochettino as the new manager, so Lampard will be desperate for a win. However, he will have to come up with new strategies as he will miss two of his key players.
