The Eden Gardens will host the India team at least once when they face South Africa on Sunday, November 5, and will host the Pakistan team for a minimum of two games. The Pakistani side will face Bangladesh on October 31 and England on November 12. It is to be noted that the two nemesis, India and Pakistan, would face each other for the second time in the tournament in Kolkata if both teams qualify for the semifinal stage of the ICC World Cup 2023.
Date | Teams |
28 October | Qualifier 1 vs Bangladesh |
31 October | Pakistan vs Bangladesh |
5 November | India vs South Africa |
12 November | England vs Pakistan |
16 November | Semifinal 2* |
*The reason behind the two behemoths meeting each other at the Eden Gardens is due to the demand made by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that their side play in Kolkata for the semifinals. Due to these preconditions applied by the PCB, Team India will play in Kolkata if both Pakistan and India reach the semifinals. If Pakistan does not qualify for the semifinals, India will play their semifinal encounter at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
