Champions League: Former Manchester City defender Mark Seagraves has not put his former club as the winners after the Champions League semi-final second leg. Man City are facing an opponent with the same strength as them. Hence, Seagraves is counting on moments of brilliance and opening goal to carry either Man City or Real Madrid forward to the final. He has not counted out AC Milan yet, but a 2-goal deficit could be too much. Hence, he chose Inter Milan as the probable winner. Follow Champions League LIVE Updates on InsideSport.IN.
Manchester City vs Real Madrid
As Manchester City travelled to Santiago Bernabeu, even though they had the upper hand, one thing was sure it would not be easy for them. As expected, Manchester City managed a 1-1 draw at the end of the 90 minutes. It was actually Real Madrid who drew the first blood with a brilliant goal from Vinicius Jr. in the 36th minute. Madrid managed to keep scoring machine Erling Haaland quiet throughout the entire game. However, a belter from Kevin de Bruyne levelled the playing field.
Going into the second half at the Etihad Stadium, the job will be much more difficult for Real Madrid. Man City have already managed to score 5 times against FC Copenhagen in the group stage, thrice against Bayern Munich, and seven times against RB Leipzig in the knockout stages in front of their fans. As per Mark Seagraves, “It’s [the match] going to be very very tense, very, very tight, but it’s gonna be a bit of brilliance that is gonna win.”
He added, “It will be a bit of brilliance that will break the deadlock and once that deadlock’s broken, then I think the game will get freer and we’ll see a lot more opportunities and a lot more chances and hopefully a lot more goals. The way we get the first goal and open the game up, will definitely win the game and take whoever through to the final. The first game was really, really tight and I see the same in the second game. But as I say if there’s an early goal either way, then I think the floodgates will open.”
Inter Milan vs AC Milan
Even though both Inter Milan and AC Milan have had somewhat of a shaky season in the Serie A, Inter Milan still had the upper hand going into the game considering their form. However, AC Milan’s history in the Champions League was still a hugely relevant factor. Still, Inter Milan managed to take over the game into the first 11 minutes of the game with two goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. AC Milan could not make a comeback after that. As per Mark Seagraves, this deficit could prove too much for the Rossoneri.
Seagraves said, “I think Inter Milan will have enough to get through. I mean any team that goes into any game with a two-goal lead, you would think that they would win the game and go on.” He added, “AC Milan they’re gonna be okay because they have the outback in the team and that may you know be the difference for them. I think AC Milan will get a goal. But I think that will be it and Inter Milan will go through 2-1, I think on aggregate into the final.”
