It was Yashasvi Jaiswal show in India’s quarter-final match against Nepal in the Asian Games as he crunched a sublime 100 off just 48 balls. In the process, the southpaw surpassed Shubman Gill’s record of India’s youngest-ever centurian in the T20I format. Jaiswal aged 21 etched his name into the record books. In a pitch where all other batters struggled for timing, the opening batter scored runs at a strike rate of over 200.
Opting to bat first, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was slow to begin with, but Jaiswal did not take any time as he went bang, bang, bang from ball one. It seemed like Jaiswal was playing in one gear only. The southpaw got to his hundred off just 48 balls and helped India reach a solid total of 202 for 4 at the end of 20 overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: Jaiswal show lits up Hanghzou stadium, India cruise to victory over Nepal
Speaking about India’s innings, barring Jaiswal, only Rinku Singh did not struggle for timing. The KKR batter scored 37 off just 15 balls and helped India finish well in the backend of the innings. However, much of the spotlight remained on Jaiswal, as he did not show any nerves even in the knockout match against Nepal.
Also, the southpaw took pressure off other batters as he continued to score runs briskly at one end. Despite India losing wickets at the other end, Jaiswal continued to attack Nepal bowlers. Jaiswal’s knock enabled India to start of their Asian Games on a winning note. India bowlers led by Sai Kishore and Arshdeep Singh bowled well and restricted Nepal to below 180.
The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led India will play either Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, or Bangladesh in the semi-final of the Asian Games on Friday.
