Garcia beat Sakkari Highlights: No.6 seed Caroline Garcia swept into the last match at the WTA Finals with a comprehensive 6-3, 6-2 victory over No.5 Maria Sakkari on Sunday. Garcia will meet the winner of the second semifinal between No.1 Iga Swiatek and No.7 Aryna Sabalenka in the Monday final at Dickies Arena at 9 pm ET.
The result was a mild surprise given the context of history; Sakkari’s loss became only the seventh time a player posted a 3-0 round-robin record and failed to reach the final. It last happened seven years ago, to Maria Sharapova and Garbiñe Muguruza.

Iga Swiatek vs. Aryna Sabalenka HIGHLIGHTS
No.7 seed Sabalenka stunned World No.1 Iga Swiatek 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 in their 2-hour and 7-minute semifinal showdown. Sabalenka prevailed in her tour-leading 28th three-set match of this season to reach her third final of the year.
Sabalenka will now meet No.6 seed Caroline Garcia for the WTA Finals singles trophy. This will break their currently deadlocked 2-2 head-to-head. With their semifinal wins, both Sabalenka and Garcia will finish the year inside the Top 5.
Former World No.2 Sabalenka won her first meeting with Swiatek a year ago at the 2021 WTA Finals, but since then, Swiatek had the upper hand in their rivalry, winning their four prior encounters this year.
However, Sabalenka came close to garnering another win in the US Open semifinals, leading Swiatek by a break in the third set before Swiatek turned that match around en route to the title.
This time, in a match that paralleled that US Open semifinal until the final few games, Sabalenka triumphed, earning her third career victory over a reigning World No.1. Sabalenka’s two previous wins over a World No.1 both came against Ashleigh Barty, at 2019 Wuhan and 2021 Madrid.
