WTA Finals: Karolina Pliskova vs Garbine Muguruza: Karolina Pliskova will begin her WTA Finals 2021 campaign by taking on Garbine Muguruza in round robin clash on Friday. Both the players have booked their year-end tournament berth in October. The WTA year-end tournament will take place at Guadalajara in Mexico on 10th November 2021. Karolina Pliskova had a moderate season so far and is yet to win a title this year. Despite playing 17 tournaments ahead of WTA Finals, she couldn’t manage to win a single title. However, World No.4 has three finals this year. Her biggest achievement this season was reaching the Grand Slam final at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. It was her first Major final at 2016 US Open. This gave her major boost to her season ranking and points in order to qualify for year-end tournament. Pliskova will look to win her first WTA year-end title after reaching semifinals thrice in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

The World No.5 has played 17 tournaments, out of which she bagged two titles at Dubai Tennis Championships and Chicago Fall Tennis Classic. Also, Muguruza has played a total of four finals this year, which boosted her chances of qualifying for WTA Finals. Her biggest challenger in the year-end tournament is Karolina Pliskova as she is yet to beat her since 2017 Cincinnati Masters. Garbine Muguruza will aim for the first title of the WTA year-end title.
