The Wrestlers vs WFI conflict continues. Eminent wrestler Vinesh Phogat has left her Arjuna, Khel Ratna Awards gold awards on the pavement of Kartavya Path pavement after being stopped from meeting PM Modi. The Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medallist wrote to the PMO about the new WFI President Election.
The new WFI President, Sanjay Singh is a close abide of ex chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on whom numerous sexual allegations were raised by female wrestlers for harassment.
Vinesh Phogat follows the footsteps of fellow wrestler Bajrang Punia who in a similar way left his Padma Shri on the Kartavya Path pavement. The move comes after the protesting wrestlers were left dissatisfied on the WFI Elections.
After the new WFI Elections, Sanjay Singh has been named as the new President of WFI. Singh however is a close ally of ex chief Brij Bhushan Sarann Singh against whom several wrestlers complained of sexual harassment allegations.
