World Athletics Championships LIVE: Neeraj Chopra Qualifies – Neeraj Chopra made his way into the final of the Men’s Javelin Throw at the World Athletics Championships 2023 with a massive 88.77m in his very first attempt. DP Manu is also in contention for a spot in the final. He recorded his season-best with the throw and by virtue of it also qualified for the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, India’s DP Manu and Kishore Jena also progressed to the final.

Men’s javelin throw qualification
Placed in the Group A Qualifier, Olympic gold medalist Neeraj recorded a massive throw of 88.77m in his first attempt. With this, he breached the qualifying mark of 83.00m.
Neeraj, who went into the championships as world’s top-ranked javelin thrower, didn’t take his second and third attempts. With this massive throw, Neeraj has also qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Neeraj Chopra created history in the last edition of the World Athletics Championships. The 25-year old bagged the silver medal with a throw of 88.13m. He became the first-ever Indian to win a silver medal in the event. He will look to change the colour of his medal and finish on the top of the podium in this year’s edition.
Meanwhile, DP Manu finished sixth overall in the qualification with a 81.31m throw. Kishore Jena recorded a 80.55m throw and advanced to the final as he finished 9th in the standings. The final meanwhile is scheduled on August 27, Sunday. The action will begin from 11.50 PM IST.
