Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Final
In the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase, Parul Chaudhury managed to reach the final. She finished fifth in Heat 2 with a personal best timing of 9:24.29. With this, she became only the second Indian in the history of the World Championships to reach the final of a track event.
In the final she will face challenge from African heavyweights. Kenya’s Jackline Chepkoech, Ethiopia’s Zerfe Wondemagen and Albania’s Luiza Gega finished in the first three places overall in the heats.
World Athletics Championships – Men’s 4X400 m Final
On Sunday, Muhammad Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammad Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh stunned the world with their performance. The quadro finished in the second-place in the heats by creating an Asian record. They clocked 2 minutes and 59.05 seconds, breaking the previous best of 2:59.51 held by Japan.
They finished only behind USA, becoming the first Indian athletes in the 4x400m relay in the history of the World Championships to qualify for the final. Overall, the Indian athletes finished second as well with both the heat results combined. This raises hopes of a first-ever podium finish for the nation in this event at the World Championships
