Novak Djokovic has achieved almost everything in his glittering Tennis career. The 34-year old recently became the first Men’s player in the history of the sport to win a record 23rd Grand Slam title. With the win he has almost settled the debate for who is the greatest Tennis player of all time. However his coach Goran Ivanisevic still wants the Serbian to target one elusive feat, which is the Calendar Grand Slam.

A player can achieve a Calendar Grand Slam by winning all the four Grand Slams in a single year. Djokovic, having won the Australian Open and the Wimbledon is now halfway through achieving the Calendar Grand Slam. However No man has ever managed to do it since Rod Laver achieved the feat way back in 1969. The last player to complete a calendra Grand Slam was Steffi Graf in 1988.
According to Goran Ivanisevic, Djokovic’s biggest achievement would be the calendar slam. Speaking to Daily Mail, he said, “For me it would be his biggest achievemt. If he can achieve that it would be amazing,”
Ivanisevic also feels that he is the only one who can do it. Djokovic came close to winning the career Grand Slam in 2021. He however fell short by just a match after losing the US Open final that year. “Two years ago, he was one match short. But it would be truly unbelievable. That would be something that nobody would believe could happen in Men’s Tennis,” adds Ivanisevic.
Djokovic is now chasing a record 8th Wimbledon title. He had a great start to the tournament having won his matches in the first two rounds in straight games. He is set to face Stan Wawrinka in the third round.
Speaking about his chances at Wimbledon, Ivanisevic added, “Two weeks is long and you must stay focussed. Must stay ready and the conditions here are never the same. Rainy, windy then very hot. There’s still a long way to go.”
Novak Djokovic hasn’t lost a completed match in Wimbledon since 2016. He has also won the titles in his last four occasions – 2018, 2019, 2021 & 2022 and is yet again the favourite this year at the grass court major. He is however the second seed this year as World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz is leading the Men’s Singles draws.
