While winning one title here at the All England Club itself is considered one of the finest feat in the career of player, Roger Federer leads the list having won eight titles at the Grand Slam event. Being one of the greatest players to have played the game in this era, Federer won his maiden title at the Grass court Grand Slam in the year 2003. From then on, the Swiss was unstoppable as he went on to win the title in the next four successive years until 2007.
In the next year too, he reached the final and was on course to win his sixth successive title. He faced Rafael Nadal in a marathon final that stretched to 4 hours and 48 minutes. He lost the first two sets and came back to win the next two to take the game into the fifth set. But eventually lost it as the score read 4-6, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, 7-9.
Federer came back to win the title next year in 2009 and he also won it in 2012. He last won it five years ago in 2017, by defeating Marin Cilic in the final to become the first man in the history of the Open era to win 8 titles.

William Renshaw is the only player in this list who played in the Amateur era. He was the first and the only player in the history of Wimbledon to win the title on six successive years. Till date no other man has ever managed to do that. Only Roger Federer and Bjorn Borg came close to his feat by winning five consecutive titles. From 1881 to 1886, he won his six successive titles and won his seventh title in the year 1889.
Apart from winning the singles titles, Renshaw also won five more titles in the Gentlemen’s doubles together with his twin brother Ernest. William Renshaw was also the first-ever president of the British Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

Pete Sampras, the former American World No.1 was the first player in the history of the Open era to win seven Wimbledon titles. He achieved the feat after winning the championship in 2000. It was his fourth successive Wimbledon title as he has won it continuously from the year 1997.
His first title at Wimbledon was in the year 1993, when he defeated Jim Courier in the final. After 1993, Sampras’ next two titles came back to back in 1994 and 1995. With this, he also became the only man to win 3 or more Wimbledon titles successively twice in his career. He held his record of seven titles intact until 2017, when Federer overtook him by winning eight titles.

Novak Djokovic, who is one among the greatest players in the current generation is next on this list having won six titles at the Grass court major. Djokovic reached his maiden Wimbledon final in 2011 and won the title straightaway by defeating Rafael Nadal in straight sets. He however failed to defend the title next year by losing to Roger Federer in the semifinals. He entered the final in 2013, but finished as runner up after losing the summit clash against Andy Murray.
He came back in 2014 and faced Roger Federer in a final that went till four sets where he managed to win the match and clinch the title. Both these player met once again in a marathon final next year that went till five sets but Djokovic didn’t give up as he outlasted the Swiss to defend the title for the first time.
His next three titles came in the last three years and he is now looking to win his fourth consecutive title and equal Pete Sampras’ feat.

Bjorn Borg, who played in the late 70s and early 80s was a former World No.1, who was the first man in the Open era to win five Wimbledon titles. He also created a terrific record by winning all those five titles in successive years. He won his maiden title at the Grass court major in the year 1976 by defeating Ilie Nastasie in the final. He then defeated Jimmy Connors twice, Roscoe Tanner and John McEnroe once to win his five titles. He reached the finals yet again in 1981 but this time, McEnroe stopped his run to defeat him 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 4-6. With the loss his record of winning 41 singles matches and 5 championships in a row came to an end.
