‘Whoever said I wouldn’t make it to Paris, I finally made it’, Nikhat Zareen aims for Olympics gold

Arjuna Award winner Nikhat Zareen is all set and has high hopes for the Paris Olympics 2024, as she believes that this is her moment.

Commonwealth gold medalist and Indian superstar boxer Nikhat Zareen is all set to make her Olympics debut in Paris. She looks determined to secure India’s maiden boxing gold medal, She recently opened up about her plans to conquer the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Zareen, whose impressive past records include a Commonwealth Games gold in 2022, two World Championship gold medals, and a bronze at the Asian Games, is now ready  to do wonders at her first appearance in this mega event. She will compete in the women’s 50 kg category and is among six Indian boxers who have qualified for the 2024 Olympics.

‘This is my moment’

Zareen recently opened up on the JioCinema show ‘The Dreamers’, sharing her strategy to overcome hurdles at this upcoming event. She said, ‘When India’s campaign in the Tokyo Olympics ended, that day I decided to channel my focus into preparing for the Paris Olympics. I also posted a picture on social media about the countdown to Paris’.

Speaking further about the opportunity, she believes this is her time to shine at the mega level. ‘I think everyone has their moment, and this is my moment. Whoever said I wouldn’t make it to Paris, I finally did. I’ll take all the negativity and positivity around me positively, strive to improve, and step into the ring in Paris as a different fighter’.

The Arjuna Award winner has been a wonderful addition to the Indian boxing setup. This 27-year-old has been known for her consistency since her junior boxing days, starting in 2011, and continues to consistently produce results for the country. There is certainly no doubt that she may do wonders in the women’s 50 kg category at the upcoming Olympics.
